Key Responsibilities

The Director, Business Environment Programmes will be required to lead, develop, and deliver CBBC’s strategic analysis output across a range of business environment issues, including market access, trade policy and intellectual property.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a small dedicated team in monitoring policy development and the business environment in general, identifying what issues mean for UK-China trade relations and translating them into value/revenue generating products and services;
  • Leading CBBC’s Intellectual Property team, in particular with regard to IP activity under the UK government’s Prosperity Fund China Business Environment programme;
  • Developing thought leadership on research areas, initiatives and programmes including securing funding;

    The Director, Business Environment Programmes will work closely with our teams across the UK and China as well as external partners.

Specific Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of international trade policy and business development issues;
  • Exceptional analytical and writing skills, including bid-writing (native English/equivalent)
  • Experience of undertaking successful collaborative research.
  • A good understanding of UK-China trade and investment issues in the global context
  • A well-developed network of government/political contacts in China
  • An excellent understanding of principles and practice of performance management
  • Strong written/spoken Mandarin skill

    • CBBC offer competitive packages which include basic gross salary, social insurance (CBBC cover both employee and company contributions), medical insurance, and generous leave entitlement.

    The gross annual package for this position is RMB 480K with annual pro rata leave entitlement of 22-days for Chinese nationals and 30-days pro rata annual leave entitlement for non-Chinese nationals.

    The job holder will report to the Executive Director, Public Affairs in London.
