The Booker is responsible for coordinating and managing guest booking for daily coverage and breaking news as well as long term planning. This role will be required to find and pitch day-to-day story ideas in concert with the vision of senior producers and management, help manage logistics for guests as well as manage futures planning for big concept ideas. This exciting opportunity will also involve coordination with shows and platforms across network-wide initiatives and planning. You need to pitch timely, smart segments. You need to be able to multitask and execute an idea from start to finish – communicating with talent, juggling schedules and crews, preparing research, and writing excellent scripts. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and independent worker. At the same time, he or she must be adaptable and flexible, a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small, scrappy, and highly collaborative team.

Basic Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience at network or cable news outlet
  • Significant contacts for researching and booking high profile guests
  • Must be news savvy and have a deep interest in current domestic and foreign events
  • Must be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and goes the extra mile
  • Comes in each day brimming with ideas
  • Has strong editorial judgment
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities and multi-task throughout the day
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, deal with intense deadline pressure and continually react to breaking news with smart programming and creative storytelling
  • Willingness to work through breaking news situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Must be knowledgeable about social media and the competitive digital news environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
