With the globalisation of China's economy and the opening-up of the financial industry, the China Connectivity team connects HSBC China with the rest of the Group at a strategic and implementation level to capture the arising business opportunities that will help to cement HSBC positions as the Leading International Bank worldwide.

The China Connectivity team focus on initiatives covering China Outbound, RMB Internationalisation, Free Trade Zone Development as well as Business Corridors. The team helps develop business opportunities by studying market trends and collaborating with China & overseas colleagues from Global Businesses and Product Lines to maximise revenues, drive HORIS income & reinforcing our position in the market as a truly leading international bank.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

The job holder will be responsible for supporting MD, Head of Business Development, Greater China and Head of China Connectivity, HBCN in leading and managing the Group’s strategy for RMB Internationalisation (RMBI), acting as the dedicated onshore representative for the RMBI Central team in China to enhance collaboration between onshore and offshore RMB markets.
Based in Shanghai but with a group-wide remit, the incumbent will work closely and coordinate with key stakeholders across Global Businesses, products, support functions and other regions to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the RMB proposition. The incumbent will provide direct support to HBCN’s RMBI Steering Committee, and will play a key role in facilitating know-how and latest market developments between onshore and offshore RMB markets.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum a university degree, with additional qualifications of an advanced degree (MBA, CFA etc) preferred.
• 5-10 years relevant experience in banking, preferably in more than one market
• Excellent spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin) and English
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, including confidence in dealing with senior executives
• Proven ability to effectively structure information and analysis and deliver within deadlines
• Ability to set and manage to own agenda, while ensuring alignment with stakeholder priorities
• Strong commercial awareness and business judgment
• Discretion and the ability to deal with sensitive or confidential information
